Life Challenge employees are an extremely vital and beautiful part of our program’s success. In this newsletter edition, we are delighted to honor Reverend Dr. Sheila Burrell.
Reverend Sheila will be celebrating her 20th anniversary as the Clinical Director here at Life Challenge in September. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Advanced Drug and Alcohol Counselor. She earned her Doctor of Ministry from United Theological Seminary. She has a master’s degree from Ashland Theological Seminary. She is an ordained Minister and has served as an Adjunct Professor at Spring Arbor University. She has served our ministry for approximately 25 years and has spent decades training, equipping, and counseling others. She loves to read and expand her knowledge on many various subjects.
Reverend Sheila’s life journey to arrive here at Life Challenge contained many negative experiences. It was in her most painful moments where she found God’s greatest grace. Over the years, she has found that those same experiences that had caused her pain, have turned into passion to help others in their life journey, and there are very few people that she cannot find a connection with.
She has had lots of cherished memories here at Life Challenge, some of the laughable ones have been at the Life Challenge Christmas parties. Her most heartfelt memories are of the losses of the people who have left the program and have passed away from overdoses.
Next to being a child of God, the greatest blessing in Reverend Sheila’s life is her family. She is blessed with two daughters, five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Reverend Sheila says, “I come most alive when spending time with my family. I love my husband very much and I believe that God in his divine wisdom has brought us together.”
Congratulations Reverend Sheila on your 20th Life Challenge anniversary! God has blessed us with you, and we look forward to many more memories to come.
Thank you Dr. Sheila for your heart for those that hurt including our son, Chris. I do believe you came to help after he passed away. We thank you for such loving compassion toward our family.

Congratulations Pastor Burrell and thank you for the years that you have dedicated to Life Challenge, helping men and women overcome addiction.
I am so blessed to have Reverend Sheila as my spiritual mother. I’ve known her since 2006 and we have stayed in contact and she will always give me advice when I ask. I remember when I had a bad day, she said, start your day again. I use that today with others. I love you mom. Thank you for never giving up on me.
Congratulations Dr. Burrell!!! 🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾
