Before I came to Adult & Teen Challenge Detroit, I had stopped drinking, got back in church, and was working at a thrift store. After about a year, I went to visit my family and was told that my son had been killed two years earlier. When I found out, I started drinking again. I didn’t care about anything anymore. I went on a binge and was drunk for a long time.

My father was a minister of music at the church I went to as a kid. So I knew Jesus, it’s just life hit me very hard. When I got to ATC, I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior again. I don’t want to drink or smoke cigarettes anymore.

My favorite part of the ATC program has been the morning chapel services because I get to lift the Lord’s name up high. God has been teaching me how to be still and know that he is God. My favorite scripture is John 3:16.
