JamesI was homeless, living under bridges, in the woods and abandoned buildings. I was in despair, with no hope and no desire to live. I had lost everything that mattered: my wife, my children, my dignity. Crack cocaine and alcohol consumed me day and night. I was panhandling near a storefront church when a man invited me into the church for dinner. So there I was, dirty and unshowered for weeks, listening to Christian music. Then he came out with a wash basin, knelt down, and washed my feet. I was broken and felt the presence of God. He also bought me new clothes and shoes. That demonstration of God’s love was the beginning of hope and I ended up at Life Challenge. Since being here, shame, guilt and despair are gone. God has given me hope through Jesus. He has filled me with His incredible love, peace and joy and given me a new family. My favorite scripture is Isaiah 61:1-7 “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners…”

  1. Awesome testimony. I’ve hit rock bottom.I hope one day I can testify of God’s goodness in my life once again.

I’m in bondage to crack cocaine. Your prayers are appreciated.

  2. Thank you so much for sharing! Someone I love very much is going through a rough time with alcohol. God has used Isaiah 61 in my life for years now. Reading it in here, with your testimony, has greatly encouraged me.
